Film Friday: Must See Movies for 2017

Every new year a crop of movies comes out, and after hitting up IMDB for their upcoming movie list I couldn’t be more excited. This year’s crop is going to be epic. There are naturally fan girl favorites like Guardians and Wonder Woman, but the independent scene is looking pretty stellar with their indie darlings as well.

Here are a few that are on my and the Hubs rader to check out for 2017.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, who I am a huge fan of. Like seriously love nearly all his work, minus the film he did with Madonna. What was up with that garbage, come on Ritchie man pull it together you’re better than that. I know she was your wife and all at the time, but man, it was just all bad. I digress. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword stars; Charlie Hunnam as Arthur, Jude Law as Vortigern, Eric Bana as Uther Pendragon, Djimon Hounsou as Sir Bedivere, and Aidan Gillen, who you might have seen in a little show called Game of Thrones, as Goosefat Bill Wilson. Being a fan of the lore of King Arthur and his knights of the round since childhood I am deeply curious to see what direction he will take it.

The Dark Tower

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel. The Dark Tower stars Idris Alba as Roland Deschain the Gunslinger, Matthew McConaughey as the Man in Black, Katheryn Winnick who is all around badass Lagertha in the show Vikings as Laurie Chambers, Jackie Earle Haley as Sayre, and Abbey Lee who played The Dag in Mad Max: Fury Road as Tirana. I have high hopes for this one. Being a huge fan of the Dark Tower series I am excited because the cast looks stellar, and nervous because I hope too much isn’t changed. Which tends to happen when books get adapated for the big screen.

Directed by Ridley Scott. Alien:Covenant stars Michael Fassbender
